Comparative gas pricing
California drivers get pinched for gas prices a bit more than the rest of us, and while that varies with the times, when we were down there for the SCLC, the difference in prices for regular gasoline were running 70 cents more a gallon in the Sacramento to Redding area we’d driven in versus the cost in Portland, Oregon. Why the difference?... in a word formulation. California’s formulation is significantly different than all the other states in the union, for the sake of their clean air requirements.
Granted, the further south you go, the smog is a fact of life, and conditions are noticeably improved from ten years ago.
